Second Chances

November 24, 2014 by Carol Tambor

If you, like me, wouldn’t want to miss anything by Brian Friel, you have mere days to see his marvelous 1964 play, “Philadelphia Here I Come” in the small setting it deserves — T. Schreiber Theatre.

Finally, New York will be seeing the Kneehigh production of “Tristan and Yseult,” which bowled over audiences in the UK and beyond at the ever-exciting St. Ann’s. RUN — this will be a very, very hot ticket! And while you’re on the site — buy ahead for “Let the Right One In”. Read the raves, and book now!

How fortunate — if you didn’t get to “Between Riverside and Crazy” at The Atlantic, Second Stage has given you another opportunity to see this Stephen Adly Guirgis gem. Here’s the NY Times review.

I missed Charles Mee’s “Big Love” at Long Wharf a dozen years ago, but I won’t be missing it again when it arrives at Signature. Here’s the review.

You may not have read my strong recommendation to see Robert Askin’s “Hand to God” when it began at Ensemble Studio Theatre in 2011, or transferred to MCC — so now, treat yourself to this uproarious play when it comes to Broadway and see for yourself how an innovative play made the leap from tiny stage to the big time!

As far as new writing — I’m going to try “Pocatello” at Playwrights’ Horizons by MacArther “Genius” Award winner Samuel D. Hunter.

At The Public, I’ll be seeing “Straight, White Men” by Obie Award winner, Jean Lee Young. Also at Signature, “A Particle of Dread” by Sam Shepard, with the marvelous Stephen Rea.

Time to give thanks for this abundance of good work — Happy Thanksgiving to you!
